Studio Weil organizes an exhibition with the twelve finalists of the new Barbara H. Weil Award, which was created to give visibility to the emerging female talent of the Balearic Islands. The artists Carolina Amigó, Carmen Arbós, Mercedes Balle, Cati Bauzá, Arantxa Boyero, Gracia de Juan, Mar Guerrero, Marina Planas, Marijo Ribas, Alicia Santamaría, Mariana Sarraute and Alba Suau have been selected from more than a hundred proposals.

The works of these twelve artists, who stand out for their artistic and transformative quality, can be seen in an exhibition between August 14 and November 1 at Studio Weil. The winning artist will be announced on August 27 and as a prize she will receive an artistic stay in New York to present her work.

The new Barbara H. Weil Award for Women Artists of the Balearic Islands granted by Weil Art Exchange aims to make emerging female artists visible, vindicating the new proposals of creative women in order to disseminate, promote and encourage contemporary artistic quality to the Islands Balearics. In this first edition of the award, more than a hundred artistic proposals have been presented and a total of twelve finalists have been selected: Carolina Amigó, Carmen Arbós, Mercedes Balle, Cati Bauzá, Arantxa Boyero, Gracia de Juan, Mar Guerrero, Marina Planas , Marijo Ribas, Alicia Santamaría, Mariana Sarraute and Alba Suau.

The works of these twelve artists stand out for their artistic and transformative quality and can be seen in an exhibition between August 14 and November 1 at Studio Weil itself, curated by Elena Ruiz Sastre, Director of the Museu d’Art Contemporani d ‘Eivissa (MACE). On the 16, 17, 19, 20, 23, 24, at 8:00 p.m., Studio Weil will organize meetings (two a day) between the artists and the public to present their work and explain the creative processes of their work.

The winning artist of the Barbara H. Weil Prize for Women Artists of the Balearic Islands will be announced on Friday, August 27 in an event that will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Studio Weil and which will be attended by all the finalist artists, as well as others personalities from the art world. As a prize, the winner will receive an invitation to carry out a ten-day artistic stay in New York, where she will meet with various gallery owners to show them their work and visit the studios of different renowned artists who reside in the city. The Jury of the Barbara H. Weil Prize for Women Artists of the Balearic Islands is made up of the art curators Anastasia Aukeman and Enrique Juncosa; artists Jessica Weinstein, Hugo Bastidas, Amparo Sard, and Rachel Libeskind; the gallery owner Gracie Mansion and by Elena Ruiz, director of the Museu d’Art Contemporani d’Eivissa. The Weil Art Exchange is a non-profit organization that has the collaboration of William H. Donner Foundation Inc., and whose mission is to legitimize and make known female artists from the Balearic Islands.
